New Year's Eve achievements
Dec. 31st, 2004 07:45 pmWell, I didn't make it to the post office, but I did make all the return-related phone calls I needed to. Last night I realized I had a $15 birthday gift certificate from the Gap which expired today, and then in looking for my Gap card found another $10 coupon which also expired today. So, I went to the Gap. Only, they couldn't be used together, so I got a belt with my certificate and came home to see if I could get a bra online (because I like Gap bras). They're out of almost everything, and (insult to injury) wouldn't let me use a gift card with the coupon (but the gift card's like money! Somebody gave you actual money for this!) so now I have another $10 of Gap stuff to buy at some point. Sigh.
Anyway, I'm all gussied up and waiting for my ride -- sparkly purple dress, thanks to
noradeirdre's superb shopping skillz, silver strappy shoes dug up from the hasn't-been-touched-since-movein shoe box (I think these were last worn on New Year's Eve -- ugh -- five years ago now. Or more. Almost certainly more), and fishnets (yay fishnets!). I have a silly amount of probably-expired lipstick on, and eye shadow sprinkled over my face as glitter. The hair... well, let's hope it looks "artfully tousled" because what it actually is is pinned up every which way and then allowed to dry in the hopes that a miracle would occur. I am not large with the girly. Also, my decolletage is framing a recent cat scratch, and my control top fishnets are not controlling so much as smushing upwards. I sort of miss being skinny, but you know? This is kind of what life looks like, even gussied up. And that's okay.
Oops, must run and polish the terribly uneven nails. Happy New Year, everybody, and thanks for being in my life!
