Propelled by your belly
Dec. 14th, 2004 06:50 pmOkay, I admit the likelihood that this'll spur much in the way of fic-writing is small, but what the hell. I did one for
musesfool, and it said "post this in your LJ", so it's worth a try. Plus, it's one more thing to do that's not my homework.
Her words: "I list a bunch of (hopefully inspirational) song lyrics. You write drabbles or ficlets inspired by them in the comments. You post this in your LJ, and I try to do the same for you (after my ficathon [and, in my case, homework] obligations are done)."
"Hurt so bad when you got it/ It went right to your head and it drove you insane" - SOL, "Blue Tattoo" (yes, by way of Hard Core Logo)
"They fall/ From your mouth/ Propelled by your belly/ And your tongue/ I shiver when you shake/ And fold into jelly/ I think I loved you more than me" - Goldfrapp, "Human"
"And even though it all went wrong, / I'll stand before the lord of song / with nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah" - Leonard Cohen, "Hallelujah"
"So be it, I’m your crowbar/ If that’s what I am so far/ Until you get out of this mess" - Fiona Apple, "I Know"
"but remember when i moved in you/ and the holy dove was moving too/ and every breath we drew was Hallelujah" - Jeff Buckley, "Hallelujah"
"I know that I don't always realize/ How sleazy it is messing with these guys/ But something about just being with you/ Slapped me right in the face, nearly broke me in two" - Liz Phair, "Shatter"
"It makes sense that it should happen this way/ That the sky should break, and the earth should shake/ As if to say: Sure it all matters but in such an unimportant way" - Poe, "Fly Away"
"Betwixt between the east and west/ He calls on her wearing a leather vest/ The earth squeals and shudders to a halt" - Lou Reed, "Romeo Had Juliette"
Worth a try, right? Yeah, yeah, back to the salt mines. Well, the Maslow's-hierarchy-of-needs mines, anyway. No, don't bother, it didn't make sense to me either.
