Not much with the spelling? New to the language? Desperately want to avoid being the subject of a disdainful language maven's rant? Check your knowledge against The Eggcorn Database! Contains entries on such popular misheard or misconceived expressions as "free reign" (should be free rein) and "per say" (should be per se). It has most of my favorites, like "peak one's interest" and "didn't phase her".

Oh, and a side note -- has anyone else been seeing "nonplused" used backwards, or am I making this up?

(ADDITION: Totally serendipitously, I was reminded today of my favorite angry apostrophe comic: Bob the Angry Flower explains the apostrophe.)

Has anyone seen both Wilby Wonderful and Suspicious River? I'm sure it's not, but I just want some reassurance that Wilby Wonderful is not going to be disturbing in the same vein as Suspicious River. Not in exactly the same way, necessarily, just... it's not going to make me depressed and unhappy, is it?

(Suddenly having a brain freeze -- we do say "in the same vein as", yeah? Or maybe "in the vein of"? Or did I just totally make that up?)
